How to Open a US Business Bank Account From Pakistan

By Shaheer Khan, founder of Markify Ecommerce

Once your US LLC has its EIN, the next step is a business account in the company's name. You need it to receive payouts from Amazon, Walmart and Stripe, pay suppliers and keep company money separate from personal money. Traditional US banks usually require a visit to a branch, so most non-resident owners use online business accounts that can be opened remotely.

Step 1: Check eligibility before you apply

Online US business account providers (banks and fintech companies such as Mercury, Relay and others), and multi-currency providers such as Wise Business and Payoneer, each have their own list of supported countries for owners and their own rules about which businesses they accept. These lists change.

Before applying:

  • check the provider's current eligibility page for owners resident in Pakistan
  • check whether they accept non-resident-owned LLCs and your type of business
  • check what they need as a US address for the business

Applying to providers that do not accept your profile wastes time and can lead to rejections that make later applications harder.

Wise Business and Payoneer are widely used by Pakistani sellers. They are not traditional US bank accounts, but they provide US account details for receiving USD payments, and many marketplaces and Stripe accept them for payouts. Check each platform's current payout rules.

Step 2: Prepare your documents

Most providers ask for:

  1. Formation document: Articles of Organization (or Certificate of Formation) approved by the state.
  2. EIN confirmation: the IRS CP 575 notice or a 147C letter.
  3. Operating agreement: signed, showing you as the owner.
  4. Passport: clear colour scan, valid for at least six months.
  5. Proof of your residential address in Pakistan, if asked, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement.
  6. A US business address if the provider requires one. Some do not accept a registered agent's address. Use only an address you are entitled to use.
  7. Business information: your website or marketplace store link, what you sell, where your customers are, and expected monthly transaction volume.

Make sure the company name and your name are spelled exactly the same on every document.

Step 3: Apply honestly

  • Apply from your own device and normal internet connection, not a VPN.
  • Give your real residential address in Pakistan as the owner's address. Providers that accept non-residents expect this.
  • Describe the business clearly and specifically. For example: "We sell kitchen products manufactured in Pakistan to US customers through Amazon US (FBA) and our Shopify store."
  • Give realistic monthly volumes.
  • Complete identity verification yourself, usually a passport photo and a selfie or video check.

Step 4: Respond to follow-up questions

Providers often ask for more information: supplier invoices, website screenshots, or an explanation of where money will come from. Reply quickly and precisely. Unanswered questions are a common reason applications close.

Why applications get rejected

  • The owner's country is not supported by that provider.
  • Names or addresses do not match across documents.
  • Using a VPN or a US address the owner has no right to use.
  • No website or marketplace presence, or a website with no real products and policies.
  • A vague business description.
  • Business types the provider does not serve.

If rejected, find out the likely reason before applying elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to travel to the US?

Usually not. Online business account providers verify identity remotely. Traditional high-street banks may require an in-person visit.

Can I use my Pakistani bank account for my US LLC?

You can transfer money from the LLC's account to your Pakistani account, but the LLC should have its own account for its income and expenses.

Can Markify help?

Yes. Bank account guidance is part of our US company formation service, after the LLC and EIN are in place.
