Outsourcing eBay and Amazon Store Management to Pakistan: A Guide for UK and US Sellers

By Shaheer Khan, founder of Markify Ecommerce

Many UK and US online sellers reach the same point: the store works, but the daily work of listing, repricing, answering buyers, managing ads and keeping the account healthy takes more hours than the owner has. Hiring locally is expensive, and a single freelancer is a risk if they disappear. A growing number of sellers hand this work to an agency in Pakistan, where Lahore and Karachi have large teams that work inside Seller Central, eBay Seller Hub, Walmart Seller Center and Shopify every day.

This guide is for the seller on the other side of that decision. It explains how outsourcing store management to Pakistan works in practice, what to check before you sign, and where the real risks are. It is written by an agency in Lahore, so we have tried to be fair about the downsides as well.

What you can hand over, and what you should keep

A good outsourced team can run most of the repeatable work on a marketplace account:

  • Listings: titles, item specifics or attributes, descriptions, images, variations and new product uploads.
  • Search and ads: keyword research, eBay Promoted Listings, Amazon Sponsored Products and Brands, Walmart Sponsored Search and budget control.
  • Pricing and stock: repricing rules, stock levels, reorder alerts and multichannel inventory sync.
  • Customer service: buyer messages, returns, cases and feedback, inside the response times each marketplace expects.
  • Account health: watching defect rates, late shipment, policy warnings and listing removals, and writing appeals when something goes wrong.
  • Reporting: a monthly report built from your own account data.

Some things should stay with you. Keep ownership of every account, brand registry and payment method. Keep final approval of pricing strategy and ad budgets. Keep control of supplier relationships and anything that commits money, such as inventory orders. A trustworthy agency will suggest this split itself.

Time zones: how the working day lines up

Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5 all year, with no daylight saving.

  • UK sellers: Pakistan is 5 hours ahead in winter (GMT) and 4 hours ahead in summer (BST). A team working late morning to early evening in Lahore covers most of the UK morning and early afternoon, so messages sent overnight are often answered before your day starts.
  • US sellers: Pakistan is 9 to 10 hours ahead of the East Coast and 12 to 13 hours ahead of the West Coast. Work happens while you sleep, which suits listing, ads and reporting. For buyer messages, agree a response plan that still meets marketplace targets at weekends and on US holidays.

Ask for a fixed weekly call at a time that suits you, and a named person who answers urgent messages outside the team's normal hours.

Account access: never share your password

Every major marketplace lets you give another person access without handing over your login:

  • Amazon Seller Central: invite users under User Permissions and give each one only the permissions they need.
  • eBay: use multi-user account access in Seller Hub where it is available on your account, so team members sign in with their own eBay accounts.
  • Walmart Seller Center: add users and assign roles under user management.
  • Shopify: add staff accounts, or let an agency request a collaborator account with only the permissions you approve.

This matters for security, and it also matters if you part ways: you remove the users and the agency has no access left. Keep two-step verification on the main account and keep the recovery phone and email in your own name. Be cautious of any provider that asks for your main login, wants to log in from a different country under your identity, or offers to open accounts in their own name for you.

Data protection and paperwork

UK sellers: your buyers' names and addresses are personal data under UK GDPR. When a team in Pakistan handles them, that is a restricted transfer, because Pakistan does not have a UK adequacy decision. You need a written contract with appropriate safeguards, usually the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, and a short note of the risks you considered. Ask the agency whether they will sign one; a serious agency will.

US sellers: there is no single federal law like UK GDPR, but state privacy laws and the marketplaces' own data policies still apply. Amazon in particular restricts how buyer data is used and stored, so make sure the agency works inside Seller Central and does not export buyer details to its own spreadsheets.

VAT, tax forms and invoices

UK: when a UK VAT-registered business buys services from an overseas supplier, it usually accounts for the VAT itself under the reverse charge, rather than the supplier charging UK VAT. Your accountant will confirm how this applies to you.

US: a foreign company providing services from outside the US normally gives you a Form W-8BEN-E instead of a W-9, and you do not issue a Form 1099-NEC for it. Again, confirm with your tax adviser.

Either way, ask for proper invoices from a registered business, in GBP or USD, with a clear monthly scope on each one.

What it costs

Prices vary with catalogue size, number of channels and how much advertising is involved. As a reference, our own starting prices are published on each service page: eBay management from $249 a month, Amazon management from $299 a month and Walmart Marketplace management from $299 a month after onboarding. Be wary of prices far below the market for "full management"; the usual result is one junior person spread across too many stores.

Watch for revenue-share deals that pay the agency on sales you would have made anyway. Our post on retainers, projects and revenue share explains the trade-offs.

How to check an agency in Pakistan before you sign

  1. Is it a real company with an office? Look for a business name, street address and phone number that match across the website, Google Maps and directory profiles. Ask for a video call from the office.
  2. Who will do the work? Ask for the name of your account manager, how many stores they handle and who covers them on leave.
  3. What is in the monthly scope? Get a written list of tasks and how results will be reported.
  4. How is access handled? The answer should be user permissions, never your password.
  5. Can I see real work? Ask to see live listings they manage, or a case study the client has agreed to share. Be careful with screenshots of large numbers you cannot check.
  6. What are the contract terms? Know the minimum term, the notice period and what happens to your data when you leave.
  7. How do they handle a suspension or policy warning? They should explain the process and avoid promising guaranteed reinstatement.

Our longer checklist, how to choose an ecommerce agency in Pakistan, goes deeper on each question.

Agency or freelancer?

A freelancer can be a good, cheaper choice for a single task, such as uploading a batch of listings. For ongoing management of an account that pays your bills, an agency gives you cover for holidays and sick days, separate specialists for ads and compliance, and a business you can hold to a contract. We compare the two in hiring an ecommerce virtual assistant vs an agency.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to let a team in Pakistan manage my eBay or Amazon account?

It can be, if they work through user permissions on your own account, you keep the main login and two-step verification, and you have a written contract that covers data protection. The risk comes from shared passwords and accounts opened in someone else's name.

Will my account be flagged because someone logs in from Pakistan?

Marketplaces expect sellers to use staff and agencies, and their user permission systems exist for this. What causes problems is sharing one login across countries. Use separate user accounts and keep the account's business details accurate.

Can a Pakistan-based agency handle eBay UK customer service in British English?

Yes, many teams write to UK buyers every day. Ask to see sample replies and agree a response-time target before you start.

How long until I see results?

The first month usually goes on fixing account health, listings and ad structure. Most sellers can judge a team fairly after about three months of reporting.
