How to Write Amazon A+ Content That Converts
By Shaheer Khan, founder of Markify Ecommerce
A+ Content is the section of images and text that appears below the bullet points on an Amazon product page, in the "From the brand" and "Product description" area. Done well, it answers the questions that stop someone buying, shows the product in use and points shoppers to your other products. Amazon says A+ Content can help increase sales, and it can test versions for you, so you do not have to guess what works.
Who can use A+ Content
A+ Content is available to brand owners enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry, and to vendors. You need a registered or, in many marketplaces, pending trademark to enrol. Premium A+ Content, with larger modules and video, is available to some brands that meet Amazon's eligibility rules.
Start with the buyer's questions, not the design
Before anyone opens a design tool, write down:
- The top objections. Read the 1 to 3-star reviews of your product and your competitors'. What do buyers worry about or complain about? Size, quality, durability, how to use it, what is included?
- The questions people ask. Check the questions and answers on your listing and on competitors' listings.
- What makes you different. Material, design, a bigger set, better instructions, a guarantee, the way it is made.
- Who it is for and how they use it. The scene you show should match the real buyer.
Each module should answer one of these. If a module does not answer a question or show a benefit, cut it.
Choosing modules
Amazon offers a set of standard modules, such as a large header image, image with text, several images side by side, a comparison chart, and a technical specifications table. A strong, simple structure for most products:
- Header image with your brand and the product's main benefit.
- Three or four feature blocks, each showing one benefit with an image and a short line of text.
- "How to use" or "What's in the box", especially for products with several parts or a learning curve.
- Size or specification guide if size or compatibility causes returns.
- Comparison chart with your other products, so shoppers who are unsure pick another of yours rather than a competitor's.
The Brand Story is a separate carousel above A+ Content that introduces your brand and links to your other products and your Brand Store. For Pakistani manufacturers, it is a natural place to explain how and where the products are made.
Writing the text
- Keep it short. Most shoppers scan images on a phone.
- Lead with benefits, then support with the feature: "Stays sharp for years: hand-finished German stainless steel."
- Use the same words buyers use in reviews.
- Make sure all claims are true and supportable.
Design rules that matter
- Design for mobile first. Many shoppers view A+ on phones, where images shrink. Text inside images must be large enough to read.
- Use real photography of the actual product, with lifestyle images that show scale and use.
- Keep a consistent style across all your products so the brand looks professional.
- Fill in the image alt text fields. They help accessibility and give Amazon more information about the page.
What Amazon does not allow
A+ Content is reviewed by Amazon, and submissions can be rejected for things such as:
- prices, discounts, "best seller" or "#1" claims
- shipping details or time-limited promotions
- guarantees or warranty claims written in ways that break Amazon's rules
- customer reviews or quotes
- contact details, website links or references to other sellers
- unsupported claims, including health or medical claims
- low-quality images or text that is hard to read
Read Amazon's A+ Content guidelines before designing, so you do not waste a design round.
Test what works
If your listing gets enough traffic, use Manage Your Experiments in Seller Central to test two versions of A+ Content against each other. Amazon shows the versions to different shoppers and reports which one sold more. Test one big idea at a time, such as a different first image or a comparison chart versus no chart.
Common mistakes
- Repeating the bullet points as images.
- Text too small to read on a phone.
- Generic stock photos that do not show the product.
- A comparison chart that compares with competitors instead of your own products.
- Forgetting to update A+ when the product changes.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a designer?
A designer helps with clean, consistent images, but the plan (which questions to answer, in which order) matters more than the decoration. Many brands write the plan themselves and use a designer for production.
How long does approval take?
Amazon usually reviews A+ Content within about a week, sometimes faster. Rejections list the reason, so fix it and resubmit.
Can Markify create our A+ Content?
Yes. A+ Content planning and design is part of our Amazon account management service. Pair this guide with our listing optimisation checklist.
